Artists' Talk - on Thursday Nights
Join us in this series of five free artist talks.
Learn about the lives, influence and creative process of five Ontario artists.

Each talk is one hour from 7-8 on every second thursday starting Aug 27th.
Although these talks are free we ask you to please pre-register at the
Barry's Bay Railway Station 613-756-5885 to give us an idea of attendance.


Heather Inwood-Montrose
Aug 27th 7- 8 pm

Heather is a certified Journeyman Welder and holds an Interprovincial Red Seal. She has 10 years experience welding in the aerospace industry and has worked extensively with stainless steel, steel and aluminum.

Heather currently owns and operates Irondell Metal Works a custom metal fabrication shop in the Bancroft area. She is also a welding professor at Loyalist College in Belleville Ontario.

“I would describe my art forms as biomorphic… they take on a life of their own once I set the wheels in motion and shift form as is appropriate to each piece. I prefer metal as a medium because of it's versatility and strength; qualities I strive to cultivate!“.

Ankaret Dean
Sept 10th 7- 8 pm

After moving from Oakville to a farm in McDonald's Corners in 1994, she became very involved in developing a community arts organization, MERA, in an old 1865 Schoolhouse.
Currently she weaves rugs re-cycling old woolen blankets, makes garden sculptures, sells flowers in the local farmers market and enjoys being part of MERA.

Ankaret will give an illustrated lecture discussing the twists and turns of life as a weaver and basketmaker after graduating from The School of Design, Sheridan College in 1975.


Clark Guettel
Sept 24th 7- 8 pm

As an artist, glassblower, musician and a teacher, creating art for Clark Guettel includes the joy of intuitive expression along with the challenge of sorting out what is important in our busy and cluttered world full of historical traditions, current expectations and future anticipation. He strives to create multi-faceted expressions that can speak to different people in different ways while always hoping to inspire awareness and give the viewer the joy of feeling.

Clark exhibits and teaches across Canada and the U.S.. His work reflects the philosophies of William Morris, the Bauhaus, and the Post-Modern Contemporary Studio Glass Movement mixed with a combination low / high tech organic rural lifestyle.

Janet Moore
Oct 8th 7 - 8 pm

Janet Moore has worked as a professional visual artist for the past 25 years and is the recipient of a
number of awards from Canada Council and the Yukon Territorial Government.

Her work is included in the Canada Council Art Bank, the Yukon Government Permanent Art Collection, the Yukon Arts Centre Collection, and the City of Whitehorse Collection. Moore's work has been exhibited across Canada in numerous galleries including: The McMichael Museum in Kleinburg, ON, The Yukon Arts Centre Gallery in YT, The Prince George Public Gallery in BC, CUBE Gallery in Ottawa, ON, SAW Gallery in Ottawa, ON and the Odd Gallery in Dawson City, YT. She now resides in rural Ontario, close to Algonquin Park, where she continues her work as a visual artist.

Kathy M Haycock
Oct 22nd 7- 8 pm

Artist Kathy Haycock celebrates the wilderness with animated landscapes painted on site en plien air. She has painted remote regions from the Canadian Arctic and Greenland to the American Southwest. Daily she steps outside her home near Lake Clear into the Algonquin boreal forest to paint. Her travels and her immediate surroundings here in the Ottawa Valley have instilled a respect and love for the natural world which she shares through her oil paintings.

This evening she will share some paintings, photographs and tales of travel plus an exciting project she is developing, retracing the steps of Group of Seven painter A.Y. Jackson on his many painting trips throughout Renfrew County and mapping “The A.Y. Jackson Trail”.
