Pulse For Kids

Kids discover the basics of rhythm and dance in a fun and high-energy class,. influenced by contemporary, African, and Latin movements. Increase flexibility of body & spirit while grooving to beats from around the world.

Song Writing Fun!
Tuesday, Aug 18
Instructor: Tanya Kornobis

This workshop includes melody writing, lyric writing, groove and melodic progression, writing against a chord progression, setting words to music and brainstorming techniques. The workshop is designed to provide information for songwriters of all experience levels and no prior musical knowledge is required.
Ages: 7 - 11

Rope Dancing
Tuesday, Aug 18
Instructor: Kevin O'Connor

This class is for children to explore movement on the vertical plan as well as movement from standing to the floor using the rope. We will learn basic climbing techniques and practice being comfortable and aware while being upside down.
Ages: 6 and up

Creating with Clay
Wednesday, Aug 19
Instructor: Karen Gray

Participants will be introduced to clay and basic hand building skills such as pinch pots, coil technique and slab work. Each participant will create at least one piece and decorate it with textures and underglazes.
Work will be bisque fired for pick up at a later date.
Ages: 6 -9 Time: 9:30am - 12:30
Ages: 10 - 14 Time: 1 - 4 pm

Print Making
Thursday, Aug 20
Instructor: KY Hanewich

During this workshop participants will draw an image, transfer it to a printing block, carve the image, and use ink to make a series of prints.
Ages: 6 - 9 Time: 10am - 12noon
Ages: 10 and up Time: 1pm - 3:30pm

Shake and Toot
Friday, Aug 21
Instructor: Mark Sepic

During this workshop participants will make bright and colourful kazoos and shakers using recycled objects from around the house: a toilet paper roll and wax paper (kazoos) and a small, hard plastic container (ie: vitamin jar, film container), (shakers). This workshop is followed by a sing and play-along session. Please bring a toilet paper or paper towel roll and a hard plastic container that will fit in the hand.
Ages: 6 -9
Time: 10am -12pm

Tin Can Drum
Friday, Aug 21
Instructor: Mark Sepic

Make a beautiful, durable drum using recycled objects from around the house. These drums look and sound great and last for years! This workshop is followed by a world-rhythm session. Please bring a large tin can (rinsed and dried) of 48oz or larger, WITH THE RIM INTACT, the top and bottom cut off (no jagged edges please).
Ages: 10 and up
Time: 1pm - 3pm

Let's Play! Day Camp  

Looking for FUN this summer?
Lets Play! Day Camp is a theatre camp for kids aged 8-13.
Along with fun and games, we will write, prepare and perform our very own play
at the end of each session!
